LEARN MORE

What Is a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)?

PHP is an intensive level of outpatient treatment for substance use disorders. Clients attend scheduled daytime treatment and return to their living environment afterward. It provides more treatment time and structure than an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), without an overnight residential stay.

PHP may be a next step after inpatient or residential treatment, or an option when less intensive care is not meeting a person’s needs. A clinical assessment helps determine whether this level of care is appropriate.

Personalized Care

Personalized Support for Your Recovery

Recovery involves more than stopping substance use. It also means learning how to handle difficult moments, rebuilding routines, and finding support you can turn to. At Aviv Recovery, treatment planning centers on your needs, goals, and progress.

Structured group sessions create opportunities to discuss recovery challenges, learn from shared experiences, and practice healthier ways of responding. Topics can include recognizing triggers, managing cravings, communication, boundaries, and building supportive relationships.

Individual sessions provide space to explore personal concerns and work toward goals identified in your treatment plan. Your needs are reviewed as treatment progresses so the next steps reflect the support you need.

Understanding substance use patterns can help make recovery feel more manageable. Treatment focuses on practical skills for handling stress, navigating high-risk situations, and developing routines that support daily stability.

Recovery planning includes recognizing warning signs and deciding what to do when challenges arise. As you progress, our team works with you on recommendations for continued support, which may include IOP, outpatient counseling, or community recovery resources.

Our PHP is focused on substance use treatment. We also address co-occurring emotional and mental health concerns when a substance use disorder is the primary diagnosis and the person's needs are appropriate for our program. When dedicated mental health care or another service is needed, we help connect clients with appropriate providers.

When medication-assisted treatment is part of your recovery needs, we can help connect you with community providers. Aviv Recovery does not provide MAT at our center. Care coordination is guided by clinical need and applicable consent requirements.

Our Virginia Beach facility offers a welcoming setting for treatment, with dedicated spaces for group and individual sessions. We serve individuals and families from Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Chesapeake, and surrounding Hampton Roads communities.

A clinical assessment reviews your substance use history, current concerns, and treatment needs. Admission depends on whether PHP is clinically appropriate and whether the program can meet your needs.

Review Coverage and Begin Planning

Our admissions team can review PHP-specific insurance benefits and explain any authorization requirements or expected costs. Once eligibility, clinical recommendations, and availability are confirmed, we will discuss scheduling and what to expect.

Verify Your PHP Insurance Benefits

Aviv Recovery is working to expand its insurance network and make PHP accessible to more individuals and families. Contact our admissions team for current participation information and help reviewing your PHP benefits, authorization requirements, and potential out-of-pocket costs. Eligibility and coverage are verified individually; verification is not a guarantee of payment.
